Since the last time I updated here, I finished sketching the design on the wall, painted in all the shapes, spray painted the text aaaaand outlined them all. You would think I would finish this all in a week. But nope, I finished outlining this thing only yesterday — 22nd february 2023. I started this on 3rd February, a friday.

It started with this and
Ended up like this

Monday I made grids using threads with Sanjeev and Philip’s help, then I sketched out the image with chalk. Speaking of Philip, he’s gone now. His internship was over 2 weeks ago. He seems to be doing well though. So yes back to this, I also did the purple zig zag patch that day, which covered most of the things I sketched out ;-; should’ve just sketched the patch first and then drawn over it. Anyway, I drew over the patch again, that day we coated the text area with white and did the shadow purple section of it as well.

Some days were just ‘taping days’ as Akhil said. I was just covering the section that had to be painted and spray painted and then covering around that. Every step that involved me adding paint to the wall was super nerve wrecking. I had to mentally prepare myself before I mixed the paint — so i dont mix a lot of the wrong paint. I was continuously working, but I also kept procrastinating before I did anything. I just stood there looking at the wall and nervous laughed and mumbled to myself. And suddenly I hear Abhilash laughing behind me, and when I ask what, he’ll just walk away chuckling and saying “continue continue”. It wasn’t just him, everyone would randomly pop up and stand and stare saying nothing and hmmm yes I was totally cool with that oh yeah did not make me nervous at all.

After a bunch of base coats and taping and covering, it was time to try my hand at spray painting, one of the most anticipated parts of this wall painting. I stuck up some papers outside the office, drew the symbols and painted them, and then tested it from different distances and different intensities. SHEEEESH. And then I did it on the wall. Fun it was, indeed. Most of it came out fine 👌👌. The ‘<’ symbol had some blue spray paint that came on too much, but I fixed it later with a sponge, dabbing the other color.

Muskan warned me that day “wear a maask when you do spray paaaints” … sigh. I didn’t bring a mask that day so I just covered my mouth with my shirt. Big mistake. The cover of the spray paint had said “yes the person will get a sore throat and please wear a mask” and all. I got the worst sore throat, and it lasted a whole week. I took a day off work and the painting halted. The momentum was lost. Those damn spray paints. I couldn’t enjoy anything I ate, it hurt when I swallowed food, and I lost my voice. All this on top of a fever. Tch tch tch tch tch. Very bad timing, actually no time is the right time for this nonsense.

AAAAAnyway, i finished the painting the next week, and Vibin got a cake T-T. This animatic i made will explain it better.

Im going to be more regular on this blog from now on, see yall soon
